A true story before sleep

About these stories

Every story is retold for children from the Qur'an, authentic hadith, and the classical books of Seerah and biography. The sources are listed at the end of each story. Where a detail comes from a weaker report, the story says so with words like "it is said" or "some narrations tell".

The pictures show skies, places, animals and objects, and they gently move: camels walk, palms sway, stars twinkle and the sea rolls. Out of respect, no prophet, companion or any other person is ever drawn. If the movement is too lively at bedtime, tap the sparkle button in the reader to keep the pictures still.

Reading times assume a gentle bedtime pace of about 105 words a minute. Your place in each story is remembered on this device.

Saying the blessings aloud

ﷺ
After the name of the Prophet Muhammad, say ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam: may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him.
عليه السلام
After other prophets and angels, say ʿalayhi s-salām: peace be upon him.
رضي الله عنه
After a companion, say raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu (for a woman, ʿanhā): may Allah be pleased with him or her.
رحمه الله
After later scholars and righteous people, say raḥimahu Allāh: may Allah have mercy on him.

Made for reading aloud. May your nights be full of sakinah: calm, peace and the remembrance of Allah.
